Our controlled appellations

The particular combination of the grape varieties, the attributes of the soil and climatic conditions enable our wines to be recognised by their controlled appellations of origin, which guarantee both the characteristics and the quality. Thus the Cellar produces wines with the appellations : "Côtes du Rhône Régional", "Côtes du Rhône Villages" and "Coteaux du Tricastin".

"Côtes du Rhône Régional", "Côtes du Rhône Villages", "Coteaux du Tricastin".

Côtes-du-Rhône Régional

This appellation covers an area of 41,000 hectares situated on both banks of the Rhône between Vienne, Valence and Avignon. Red wines with this appellation form the primary production of 10,000 wine growers producing controlled appellation wines and is only of secondary importance with regard to the total production of all controlled appellation wines (red, white and rosé). In the Vaucluse, these Côtes du Rhône come from the north of the department.

Côtes-du-Rhône Villages

This appellation was established by decree in 1953 and then modified on 2 November 1966. Today, it covers 95 villages in four departments in the south of the wine growing area : Ardèche, Gard, the Drôme and the Vaucluse. It extends over an area of 9,500 hectares and produces 400,000 hectolitres of wine.

Coteaux du Tricastin

Established on the 27 July 1973, the appellation is over 30 years old. The Tricastin is one of the oldest known wine growing areas of the Rhône Valley and dates back more than 2,000 years. According to the historian Gérard Dubuigne, the first vines were planted by the Phoenicians ; they were followed by the Romans, who colonised the Gaulish tribe of the Tricastini. This region afterwards became one of the foremost localities in the history of antique and mediaeval wine. On the left bank of the Rhône, between Montelimar and Bollène, the area of the controlled appellation of origin is limited to 2,500 hectares in 21 villages and produces about 118,000 hectolitres.
